"Calling" marks the first official recording and release of KDP. Ken (MB) originally came up with the guitar riff after an explainable bout of inspiration. In a mad rush, MB recorded this riff / arrangement in Boston, and sent it off to Phil (who was in California at the time). Phil wrote the lyrics, melody, and also recorded his vocal tracks all in one day. From there, the song was sent back to Boston to Dan, where he attempted to lay down the drum tracks. Dan ended up having some technical issues with his home studio setup at the time, and had no choice but to rush to MB's lair in a frenzy to record his drum tracks on MB's drum kit. Calling was then mixed and mastered by all 3 members, and released. The track was written, recorded, mixed and mastered in just a few days time- all while Phil was in California, and Ken/Dan were in Boston.
